This is a fascinating article about the children who are recruited to be the next generation of "keepers" of the Washington State Centennial Time Capsule:

The first Washington State Centennial Time Capsule was sealed in 1989 and every 25 years a new capsule will be filled with artifacts that might have meaning in the future and added to the vault. All 16 capsules in the vault are scheduled to be opened in the year 2364 - 400 years after the first capsule was sealed!
The question about finding artifacts with meaning is a good one especially since the 1989 capsule included a CD of the Microsoft Bookshelf digital reference books which may be difficult to read even today in 2014 since it requires the Microsoft DOS operating system.
10,000 written messages from individuals were also included providing a more personal view of what people were thinking at the time.
The 2014 capsule won’t be sealed until Feb. 2015 and we can’t wait to see what gets included.
